A ladybug sighting

Ladybugs are supposed symbols of good luck. I don't know where that started..but because of that lore, the ladybug is a "mascot" if you will of China adoptions. There is always alot of talk about ladybug sightings and wondering if that date is somehow significant in the adoption journey. While I would not call myself a superstitious person, sometimes..it's just too hard NOT to believe! This is an odd story to tell..but bear with me.

I was sitting in my living room early in the evening, minding my own business while reading a book. Out of the corner of my eye..I notice a small object..moving! I look over and what should it be but a beautiful little ladybug. Of course I thought about the good luck connection..but I didn't want to disturb it, so I left it alone. I also noticed a small spider hanging out not too far away (yea..I know...not the greatest housekeeper...SO?). The ladybug was crawling towards the spider and all I could think of was protecting that ladybug. I did not want to hurt it..and I did not want to scare it..so I just sat in my chair thinking no!..no!...no!..go the other way little ladybug!! We're just NOT going to go into why I didn't just move the ladybug away and what that says about my parenting skills. So..I'm watching the ladybug and the spider moving closer together and the pending doom. Who am I to intefere with nature? Just about when the spider was ready to pounce (really...they DO pounce!)..the ladybug scurried away. She did this TWICE...before I finally put an end to the spider. I don't know where my little ladybug is now..probably met her demise with some other house insect...but I've decided that my run-in with this ladybug was worth mentioning..JUST in case it's part of our red-thread!
