I just finished a book Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life by Amy Krouse Rosenthal where she comments that adults don't get to say "Ta-da" anymore. I disagree - Ta-da is a wonderful exclamation and we should all use it daily. Why shouldn't we have "Ta-da!" moments?
Anyway - here's my Ta-da for the day: Maya's dresser. I purchased it 10 months ago for $8 at a garage sale. It was stained a walnut-y color and I wanted it white. So....some sanding..priming...and 3 coats of high gloss white latex paint later - I present - The Dresser!
And....the "buggy" bank - as my nephew declared it to be not a "piggy" bank - cuz it's not a pig!
This photo also shows the cute scalloped detail of the top of the dresser.
So I say......Ta-da! Can you tell that I'm a bit proud of my efforts???

Nerd...Geek...Goober....Dork?
While browsing some friends' blogs on the net - I came across this Nerd test. Why did I take it? Well..probably because I am a nerd - and I had nothing better to do this Friday evening. Here's my score:
Hmm...guess I'm not as nerdy as I thought!
No comments from the peanut gallery, please!

Happy LID Anniversary to me.......7/20/06
Well....I've heard of hats being called lids - and we all have eyelids - and there are lids for pots and pans...but this LID is a bit different.
This LID is my Log-In-Date. The date that CCAA (the Chinese adoption agency) gives every adoptive parent when their paperwork is "logged in" to the system. It is the date that is used for referral matches.
I never actually considered that I would have an LID anniversary. If you remember, this was only supposed to take me 6 months of waiting - not 12!

Rumor du jour
ru·mor (rū'mər) pronunciation
n.
1. A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth.
2. Unverified information received from another; hearsay.
tr.v., -mored, -mor·ing, -mors.
To spread or tell by rumor.
The message boards are flying with rumors - new ones almost daily - from about the middle of the month until referrals arrive. You see - we just don't have anything better to do with our time!
Here - I will list the rumors as I hear them - we'll see what happens in just a few short weeks! Stay tuned.....
July 10 - a message board in Spain (they are usually close to accurate for some reason) says that the CCAA will begin to match whole months again. IF this rumor comes true - We'll see Maya's sweet face in a few weeks!
